COMPOSITION<\/strong><\/p>\n

Each ml contains:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ferric Hydroxide in Complex with Sucrose
\nEquivalent to elemental iron 20mg
\nWater for Injection  USP q.s.
\nInjection is for intravenous use.
\nWhen administered by intravenous infusion, the Injection must be diluted with 0.9% Sodium Chloride Injection to a concentration of 1.0 to 2.0 mg\/ml of elemental iron.
\nOsmolarity: Not less than 1150 and not more than
\n1350m osmol per Lit.<\/p>\n

Mechanism of action<\/strong>
\nIron sucrose, the active ingredient of Iron Sucrose Injection, is composed of a polynuclear iron(III)-hydroxide core surrounded by a large number of non-covalently bound sucrose molecules. The complex has a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of approximately 43 kDa. The polynuclear iron core has a structure similar to that of the core of the physiological iron storage protein ferritin. The complex is designed to provide, in a controlled manner, utilisable iron for the iron transport and storage proteins in the body (i.e., transferrin and ferritin, respectively).<\/p>\n
